"To Make You Feel My Love"

Madison Vandenburg, 17-year-old American Idol contestant, sang this Bob Dylan song last night, and moved into the final 3.  She has a great voice and probably deserves to win, but I've always had a bad feeling about this song, and the fact that the teen is urged to sing as if she truly believes the lyrics intensifies that feeling.
                          "Make You Feel My Love"
"I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue,
And I'd go crawling down the avenue.
       No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love."
This may work in the darker, more underground world of vintage Bob Dylan, I find the lyrics creepy for a teenager to sing, portraying herself as totally invested in the lyrics.
Singer saying she'd willingly be beaten, and subjugated to misery to demonstrate her love. I mean, really, I can think of at least half a dozen rhymes for "do" that don't allude to being beaten up.
