City of Troy History---Monument Square

In the  heart of the city of Troy, at Broadway and 2nd Street, stands the Soldiers and Sailors War Monument. It honors those from Rensselaer County who served in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and the American Civil War.
A 50-foot granite column is crowned by "The Call to Arms," a 17-foot bronze statue of the Goddess Colombia.  Her feet are on a cannon ball, she has a sword in one hand, and a sword and trumpet in the other hand.
And Andrew, the style of the work

is Byzantine.
