The "suspect" was handcuffed to a door in the police station. He pulled away and the door broke. The police charge him for the door, the cost to repair or replace. Would you as juror vote to hold him responsible for door damage?

If a person were to be hanged and the rope broke before the execution, would you charge that person for a new rope?
