A "wry" memory

    In the Charming Lane days, we spent a lot of time there, and that meant a lot of food.  A favorite of theirs was the BFS shop. Ask what the initials stood for. The answer was Best F**kin' Sandwiches.  Oh, sure, there may have been a more correctly formal title, but everybody called it by its street name. Gus once asked the owner and he said the real name is the one with the F-word. Their food was always very good.   (So sad to find the reference all these years later.

So, today...

 ...I stopped at sNs to get cat food. I was in line behind a man who was having a lot of good-natured conversational chitchat with the clerk. He was talking more than listening, so she had to repeat her request for his birthdate, as he was buying some beer. He answered "Four/four/ forty-four."  I commented that I felt I should call William Mattare. He laughed  and said whenever he hears his ad, he feels like punching him in the nose.  (444-4444)

A Spate of Appointments

Four medical appointments within 3 days, 2 on Monday and 2 on Wednesday. All were 6-12 month follow-ups. Once a teacher, always a teacher, so I'll give letter grade ratings based on my personal satisfaction with the visit itself, not any potential medical  outcomes or ramifications:  Appt.#1---B+, Appt.#2---D, Appt. #3---A, Appt. #4--- B-.

  Monday's appointments required travel to Saratoga Springs and then to Mechanicville. Wednesday's appointments were close together  in time, and travel was from Clifton Park to Troy. Close, but I was not late.

Cookies---the edible type---the undrugged type---Oreos

   I used to buy Oreos because they didn't tempt me at  all. A supply of them for the kids' lunches, or if someone craved a snack. But they were boring, chocolate with rather tasteless white filling. I had no trouble resisting them. The other day, with absolutely no dessert in the house, I opted to buy some Oreos. I could eat a few when sugar called, and keep the rest for other dessert cravings. But I bought, not just plain old Oreos, but Graham Flavored Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreos. Granted, I didn't read the package in the store, just plopped it in the shopping cart. ***I should have known better. (There are a few left.
